In the city of Sterzing
Sterzing: holidaying in Italy’s northernmost town
Sterzing (Vipiteno in Italian) dates back to the Middle Ages and is one of the most charming small towns in Italy. Treat yourself to a sightseeing tour or a round of shopping, visit the local museums and don’t miss events such as the Knödelfest (a festival dedicated to Tyrolean dumplings) and Glockenweihnacht – the traditional Christmas market with its atmospheric bell ringing. You can get there in just ten minutes with the Rosskopf gondola.
The Fuggers’ town
Centuries ago, Sterzing was the Alpine hub of silver and copper trading and a stronghold of the Fugger family’s economic empire. Walking around the town you can still spot remnants of its former glory.
Relaxing at Balneum
Just what it takes for a spa day: Balneum offers an indoor pool, a heated outdoor pool with water features and a summer outdoor pool with an expansive lawn, as well as two paddling pools for babies and children.
Shopping with a historical flavour
From Italian designer fashion to traditional Tyrolean costumes and from arts and crafts to a farmers’ market, the picturesque historical centre of Sterzing offers plenty of variety for anyone looking for a souvenir.
